Hello out there, I am a new fan/buyer/seller/trader at FinerTimes.com and was talking with Richard about an Elgin Pockewatch I picked up at an estate sale a couple of weeks ago, and he suggested I post the pic's and info. I have about the watch here, so here I am in all of my optimistic glory! The watch:Year-1928/Elgin-17J/Adj./grade-479/size-12s/Case-hinged 14K white gold filled Keystone/J.Boss/condition-excellent+++ both cosmetically and mechanically. Now, my question pertain's to the ornate crown base that has a very defined and detailed face in both sides(front and back of watch)that appears to be actually wearing the Crown that looks like just that, a crown(in both sense's of the word)? I have never seen anything like this design and was wondering if it had some sort of significance/name/meaning/relevance? Also, what would you ballpark the estimated value of this one at(it came with a stunning solid 14k white gold link style chain w/alternating etched/plain/etched/plain links-gold weight 9.7 grams/chain length-13.5 inches). Please advise on the price of the chain seperatley if you have time please. If you need more info. or pic's, please don't hesitate to email me, Thanks in advance for you expertise, advice, opinion, and whatever else you may contribute to my lack of knowledge, Dave |

Hi. The chain will be approximately: $625 x 14/24 x 9.7/31 = $114. This will be not too far off from the value of the watch! Gold filled, non rail road Elgins are not worth a lot, maybe $125 or so. |
