Any appraisal thoughts on this 18 K Gubelin, Ipsomatic Auto (32mm Case x 42mm Lug-Lug) value would be appreciated. Dial is white on white waffle, case surrounded by, I believe, black saphires in various condition. Some are chipped. Keeps excellent time, but reluctant to open for inspection. I recall it being bought in 1965 Switzerland by my Dad.
Thanks for your expertise.

Hello interesting watch. It's a little on the samll side (32mm) which will limit its value to some degree, but it's an interesting case. I'd imagine value to a collector is $700-900, more at a retail venue and even more for replacement cost.

Thanks for your opinion. I just had it serviced by the authorized Gubelin agent in Houston. He said, that in over 50 yrs with them, he'd only seen two others like it.Case# 150597. Do you think he was justifying the service overhaul fee? His replacemet value on the invoice $7000.00.
Are there any other sources to reference?
Thanks
Renie

$7000 is total non sense. We frequently sell 18k automatic Gubelins under $1000.

If you want to prove to yourself how ridiculous his $7k valuation is, go back to him and tell him you'll make him the deal of the century and sell him the watch for just 50% of his appraised value. Watch how fast he backpedals!
