Hi,

I am thinking of buying this Zenith Sporto, and am curious to know if any one has any idea when it might have been made and a guess at it's (real) value! I am guessing 50s/60s... the asking price is US$700-750. It seems to be in mint condition, though I have no idea when it was last serviced and how it's insides are. It's model(?) number is 9407102, and it is stainless steel, measuring 36mm.

I have noticed that the Zenith 'star' is conspicuous by it's absence in this model. Any ideas as to what this means???

Thanks,

MalZenith Sporto

I am by no means a Zenith Sport expert, but if this does not have an extremely high grade movement fitted in it (like one of the Zenith chronometer grade movements) the price strikes me as very high.

hey Zaf,

thanks for your prompt reply :-)

Upon futher investigation (an email to Zenith) I discover->

"produced in october 1958 and is fitterd with a caliber 40 (manual with small second, produced between 1955 and 1968. On the original order form for the production, it is mentioned that the dial wears a star in relief above the name Zenith, so we can imagine that the original dial has been changed once when the watch was serviced."

I know noting of the caliber 40, any news on it's movement? And I presume the lack of an original face, really does make this expensive.

Thanks again,

Malcolm
