This is a new section that I'm willing to give a try. Post a question with regard to a watch you own, INCLUDING a picture, what metal it is made of and approximate dimensions, and I'll try to give you a ballpark value for your watch. Please have a picture though, thanks, Zaf

oh, I forgot to mention the watch is supposedly 60's vintage, the "original box" has "box made in Thailand" stamped on and waranty paper does not have a series number printed on. The watch itself is really gaudy yellowish gold. Everything looks shiny, internal parts are made of brand new metal with some kind of copper tone color, no sign of oxidation. |

It looks genuine to me, price paid is about right if the box & papers match up, possibly slightly high if they don't. |

If it's a simple time only 14k Elgin, it'll be between $150 and $250. |

My boyfriend has a 100th Anniversary (1870-71 to 1971) Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey watch. Supposedly under 50 were made - his aunt worked for the company. The face is all silver, with a circus scene embossed. Any idea what it may be worth? Thank you. |

I have recently come into several timepieces including a large rectangular men's Bulova. The upside of the casing has a roman numeral 12 and 6 at the appropriate locations just outside the crystal. The face has a small diamond at the 12 and 6 positions with the words "Bulova" just below the 12 and "Diamond Quartz" just above the 6. The underside of the casing has the following written on it - "Bulova", "Water Resistant", "18k Gold", "185776", and "Swiss Made". If there was a date code, it has been rubbed off. I would appreciate any available information regarding this watch and it's possible value. Thank you. The second watch is a ladies Movado - plain face with a single diamond at the 12 and "Movado" just below that. The back of the casing has the following; "Movado", "all steel", "water resistant", "Quartz" "since 1881" and what appears to be a serial number, "BLE 4,8564" with 5 more digits under that, barely legible. The last is a ladies gold watch with writing so small I cant make it out. The back has a fancy JJ legend in a square printed on it. Any ideas? Thanks for any infor mation you can give me regarding these watches.

Hi Shawn. These are all too new and quartz powered to be considered collectible, so value is going to be close to scrap value, sorry I don't have better news for you. Zaf |

Hello and thanks for having such a format available. I have a Bulova watch, marked "APEX", with a 1951 date.It is 14 kt. gold, with an art deco type face.It is running and accurate. I searched the books at Barnes & Noble and the local libraries with no precise results.I'd appreciate an approximate value. <a href="http://www.deadzoom.com/member/fttrader/bul.jpg"> watch pix</a> |

I am having trouble finding much information on a watch I own. Its a Bulova, 24k white gold, 17 jewel. It has this inscription on the back: Benito Mussolini presented by Lloyd W. Bertaud as souvenir of first non-stop flight New York to Rome. The flight did exsist it crashed about 3 hours into it. We think it may be a Lone Eagle by Bulova. Do you know for sure if it is or isn't? And its value? I am sure *Historical* value would be much higher. Thanks.

Becky, A couple of comments, it isn't 24k, there is no such thing. It's either a white gold plate of somekind or 14k white. The value of the watch is itself is probably pretty low < $150 if plated and < $350 if 14k gold. However, if authentic, the historical value will be much higher, but I'm not really in a position to guess what it is worth. You'd need to hook up with the right WWII history buff that isn't too offended by Musolini and other evil types. Good luck with it, seems to be an interesting piece. Zaf |

Very interesting, thank you for your time. It was appraised several years ago by a local jeweler who est. its value, non-historical value, the watch alone as being slightly over $2,000.00. |

Hi. We don't see any Bulovas, accross the entire vintage range, even coming close to $2,000, so I'd take that apparaisal with a huge grain of salt. |

Thanks Zaf. At least I know that I am not losing my mind. Trifari generally made high quality costume jewelry. I have never run across a watch before. Very odd indeed. Thanks again, Barb |

Does anyone know where I could take a watch i have to be appraised, in the Baltimore Maryland Area. It is a ladies watch, Piaget, square shaped, white silver or l4K, with green black stone for dial. It is a manual windup, ladies watch, and is approx 30 to 40 yrs old, what I have been told. any feedback would really be appreciated. |

hi, I have an Illinois pocket watch that measures 1 and3/4 inches. It is a 17 jewels #3527634 on the watch and10296856 in the case, the case also says Fahys montauk guaranteed 20 years. It appears to be gold but I cant find a carat mark. The back is nicely engraved with an eagle standing on a stars and stripes coat of arms. It is running beautifully and the condition is great except for the few tiny hairline cracks on the face. Can you tell me an approximate value? thanks |

Hi - I am not a watch collector but was hoping you could answer a question - I came across a repro of a Steinhausen 1923 chronograph which I liked - can you tell me what the story is with the originals and the repro's and if you think the repro's are worth buying? here's a link to the watch http://www.gadgets4sure.com/product.asp?ProductID=12405&DepartmentID=428&engine= adwords&keyword=1923+steinhausen |

Hi CB, these "unknown" brands are often created to sell watches of lower quality, just (ab)using the hype for vintage "looking" watches. The "reedition" and "limited" words are mainly just an sale-argument without any substantial background. To my knowledge this brand never existed in the past, but of course I can be wrong... Ilja

Mary, Not much on the precision, for a standard watch around $50-75 if gold filled, maybe $125-150 if 14k gold. Zaf |

Thanks for all the posts, I'm going to go ahead close this thread as it is getting difficult to read. If you want a ballpark valuation on a watch, please start a new thread specific to your watch. Pictures help a lot but remember to keep the size small! Thanks, Zaf |
