Hi there. I've tried to do some due diligence and scan this website before posting and taking up people's valuable time.

This watch was my grandfather's who just passed away and was a gift from his wife. I'm not certain how old it is and I believe the band is not original. He paid 500 dollars to have it opened up and and cleaned by an authorized dealer several years ago. The watch appears to be stainless steel except the back of the watch.

The dial has the words:
Omega
Automatic
Chronometer
Officially Certified
Constellation
Swiss Made

The back has a raised gold circle with a constellation raised emblem.

Can anyone tell me more about this watch? Thanks.

What specifically is your question about it?

You have a very nice example of a late 1950's Omega Constellation. The distinct facets on the dial, usualle called a "pie-pan", make it more collectible than some of the other dial styles of this era.

You can find out a lot more information about your watch and other vintage Constellation models here:

Give yourself some time. There's a lot of information there.

Take care,

Thanks, Gatorcpa. That helps me quite a bit. Any general value estimate on a watch like this in this condition? Deciding if it is worth having the local Omega dealer to do a 150 dollar background check on it.

It's really hard to say as your pictures aren't detailed. The overall condition is very improtant to value, and yours is all original. These are nice watches and they were very popular in their time. They are all over the internet today. There are dozens like it on eBay right now.

Best best is to start Googling terms like "Omega Constellation pie pan 2852 505". 2852 is the case reference number and 505 is the movement caliber.

I see no reason to pay a jeweler $150 to open it up. You should be able to see what they are selling for on the internet.

Hopefully Zaf will be around with a more definitive idea of value.

I like the watch. It would something I'd try to get around $1000-1200 for. So dealers would pay something less than that. I'd remove the flexi band, it would present better without it in my opinion.

Thanks, Guys. This is extremely helpful. I've learned quite a bit about Omegas through this process, too :-)

I just noticed some identifying marks on the watch in two places - where the watchband connects to the watch:
1/2010K.6.F.TOPS/62

That's my best attempt to identify the markings. I've tried to find a place online to help me understand the markings. Can someone on here assist me?

Is this on the watch or the band?

"1/2010K.6.F.TOPS/62"

Try looking at it this way:

1/20 10K G.F. TOPS/62

This is likely a marking on the band. It means that the band is 10K G.F, which means 10K gold filled. 1/20 means that no more than 1/20 of the total weight of the watchband is gold.

"TOPS/62" is probably a manufacturer's mark of some sort.

Hope this helps,
