I'd like to buy this watch for my wife as she's taken a liking to the style and patina of this 1950's Movado 'Anti-Dust' Gent's Watch. Obviously I know nothing about the value of this watch which the dealer states has been serviced including a new mainspring and crystal. I understand dealers have to make up for the initial price they pay and what they have to spend to present a watch for sale. This Movado is being offered at $550. Would this be fair market value ? With thanks Andy

I don't think that's unreasonable for a clean serviced example. Lets say the dealer paid $225 for it, then spent $175 servicing it. So they're in it at $400. It sells at $550 less 4% transaction costs, so their gross profit is $128, less taxes and maybe they net $70-80. No one is getting rich here. |
