Hi, I just found this forum and thought I should repost my watch here since I am looking for an appraisal. This is a vintage watch I inherited from my father. The face is approx. one-and-a-half times the size of a quarter. The back and the strap are marked 14k. It is in used condition, but looks ok. The strap is missing a link. My brother and I would like to sell it, but haven't the remotest idea how much it is worth. We figure the gold alone weighs a lot, but would hate to sell it as a meltdown because I understand people like to collect these. We are hoping to find out if this watch is collectible or if it should be melted down. We posted it on ebay and actually had an immediate buyer, but then they asked us to ship it to Nigeria and never contacted us again after we told them we suspected it was a scam. So now it's up for auction again, but with no bidders, probably because we priced it wrong. Any help would be great. Zaf, you are amazing to be offering all the help you do, I am overwhelmed by your knowledge and volume of responses. I really appreciate your time. Thanks!Watch face

Weigh the gold, see what that is worth, and add $100-150 and that will give you a reasonable figure for it. It is not a particularly desirable model, unless it has a lot of sentimental value.
