i have a ladies baylor wristwatch made sometime in the late 50's?? the watch is 14k white gold. the band contains 22 small diamonds inset into linking squares. the face has a pyramidal setting of very small diamonds above and below (row of 5, then 4, 3,2,1) and 5 diamond chips inset along each side. there is no model number, on the back of the face are the letter "M" and "14k" . any thoughts of what might be reasonable to expect when i get an appraisal. thanks |

In the real world, just about all vintage ladies watches outside of the top 3-4 manufacturers trade as a function of gold content + value of the stones + a base value of anywhere from $0 to $100. You'd need a jeweler to approximate the value of your watch. In the "appraisal world" which is often based on "replacement cost" the appraisal value will come in much much higher. The appraisal value often has nothing to do with what you can actually sell an item for. |
