Hi Zaf,

I have a American Watch Co. pocket watch with a beauitful Waltham momement that keeps perfect time. The movement dates to about 1876/7. It has a solid and heavy 18kt case that is engraved (no personal marks). I will send some additional pictures. If you could give me an idea of the value it would be much appreciated.Sincerely Mark Pasciuti. Also, The case is marked B.W.C.Co warranted 18kt.

Sorry for all the posts to get three pictures up. The watch is about 53mm in diameter. The inner seconds dial has a hairline crack - otherwise is seemed pretty perfect. The hands and dial are perfect. Several years ago I showed it to an Omega watchmaker and he was shaking his head till he looked at the movement and he thought the watch was a gem, untouched, and original. I did not think the movement had much value but it sure is nice. Any info on value would be helpful. Thanks... Mark

PS - the Omega Constellation I bought from you a while back has been perfect and I wear it everyday - thanks!

Hi Zaf,

What I'm asking - does a pocket watch like this have a value that is above that of the gold in the case? If you or anyone else has an idea of the value - please let me know because I really don't have a clue. Thanks... Mark

I'm not a pocket watch expert, but I think it'll be over the gold, but not by that much. It appears to be a heavy case, so you may have $1500 in gold in there.

Your watch is a circa 1879 Waltham 18-size 15-jewel Model 1877

The B.W.C.Co. on the case stands for "Brooklyn Watch Case Company", the company that made the case.
