Hello. This watch was given to me by my grandfather, and I don't have much info on it. I know it was purchased from J.E. Caldwell & Co. The case is 14K gold (not gold plated). The markings on the back have the initials G.C.S. and Sept. 4, 1965. I do not know the serial number, but will have a jeweler open it to get that info.

My dad told me it is a swiss watch. It is also a manual/hand wind watch. Band is not original. Scratches on the back due to the softness of the metal. Trying to find out how much this thing is worth, and if it is worth restoring or selling. Thanks!

Sorry the subject line says Sold, which seems a bit confusing. The watch has not been sold, but it was sold to my grandfather from J.E. Caldwell. I have the watch at a jeweler to have it opened so I can get more information from the inside of the case.

The subject line is a little confusing. The watch is not sold, but it was sold to my grandfather from JE Caldwell. I am looking to sell it if it is worthwhile. I'm having the case opened by a jeweler so I can see what's written inside.

I think you will need to find out whom the maker of the movement is.

J.E. Caldwell (since 1839) was a very high-end jeweler and watch retailer in Philadelphia. Before they closed their doors in 2003, they sold some of the finest watch brands, private labeled with the J.E. Caldwell name on the dial.

I've seen Caldwell watches with movements produced by Vacheron, Concord, Movado and many others.

Thanks for the info Gregb! I had the watch taken apart and here is what I see on the back. It is Concord Watch Co. Serial# 2774630. The back says Swiss Made 17 Jewels. I also see a #257. I think that's all of the information on the back.

Any ideas based on the watchmaker information above?

Not very high, slightly above gold content.
