Hello,

I'm looking for some information and an idea of what this watch may be worth.

It's an Omega, the paperwork we have with it shows:
watch # R-178 073913
Purchased 5-5-1952
Grafenwöhr - Post Exchange Branch 30

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Jeff

Nice watch! That's a fairly desirable model. I'll let Zaf or others try to appraise, but I thought I'd share an original vintage 1950 catalog photo of your exact watch model:

Nice! I knew the band wasn't original... but I wasn't sure what originally came on it.

Would still love to see roughly how much it's worth.

Thanks!

It's a tricky one actually. I have not had one in a while and the market in gold rectangulars is soft. However, with papers and the fact that it looks kind of nice, and that it resembles the Patek "top hat" it may fetch a good amount. So forgive me I'm going to give a rather wide range: $1200-2400.

That's "head only".

Awesome thanks.

Recommendations on reputable places to take it to if I did actually want to sell it? Pawn shops probably not the best choice, but I'm new to all this so I wouldn't have the slightest idea in where to start...

Thanks guys!
