I was offered 300 dollars for this watch from a local watch shop and they would repair my other watch for free. It seemed a bit low to me so I'd like to know if this is a super low offer or not. I'd thought since its all gold and Cartier it would be atleast 1,500 or so.

I have attached a few pictures but they arent the greatest. The number on the back facing is 562508 with an "A" on top.
There are other markings but I can only make out one of them. "3424" appears on one of these arms that attach to the band.

On the clasp, it reads "C&F" and a bunch of other markings.

You made the right decision. $300 wouldn't even cover the gold melt value of your watch.

The "A" on the back of your watch indicates that it is solid 18K gold. Odd, because usually this marking is used for Swiss JLC cases (the maker of the movement in your watch). French Cartier cases usually don't have this marking. I would be interested to see how the movement and inner case are marked.

Yup agreed, not much down side to this purchase. On the other hand, given that the winding button is missing, it's not necessarily an easy repair for the shop unless they have a lot of parts for these watches. But still, good snag, esp if it is a Cartier and not "just" a Jaeger-eCoultre.

Are there 3-4 digits stamped on the back of the lug? In the photo, it's the bottom left one. If so, I think you do have a Cartier. Good snag.

There is no "replacement key". Someone has removed the crown. Picture of another Cartier watch below shows the crown in place:

Typically, I see these lost because someone who didn't know what they were doing tried to remove it and didn't realize it has reverse threads (unscrews the opposite direction as normal) before they stripped the threads on the soft gold screw. Then a new screw has to be purchased or manufactured.

A few years ago, I would have valued your watch (running and with crown installed) at around $4,000 retail. Today, prices for these watches have dropped to around $2,500. I've sold a couple recently.

Be very careful replacing the gold case screws not to tighten too much or they will strip also.

I think I may have a genuine New Old Stock gold crown for this watch with a NOS screw. If you're interested in a restoration, let me know, I'll start looking. It'll take some searching around in my parts bins.

You've all been very helpful. One last question. What do you think its value is in this shape? I think I'm just going to try and sell as is.
Thank you in advance.
