I picked up this Gruen Precision watch for $8 at a local hospital thrift store. Inside the watch, imprinted on the movement, is:
"N225R unadjusted 17 jewels." The inside of the caseback is imprinted with "Cased and timed by the Gruen Watch Co. 225-483A." The gold mesh band looks as if it's been bonded directly to the watch. The clasp is printed with 1/20 10k G.F."

Can you tell me anything about this watch? When was it made? Do you think i got a good deal? :-) I'm just starting to collect old mechanical and automatic watches.

Thanks..I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Joe,

Any gold plated/gold filled ladies watch short of Rolex, Patek, etc, will have a low value. However you've still done well at $8...can't go wrong there.
