Hello, does my dead Baume & Mercier watch have any value for parts? When I sent it to a service centre (assuming the battery was defunct) I was quoted $700.00 Canadian to repair! Needless to say, this was a bit absurd, and hence I am wondering if I should try to sell it for repairs parts. Appreciate any help you can give me!Baume & Mercier

Yikes! It isn't worth much, however, my guess is that you can get the SAME movement for it from one of the parts suppliers and just drop it in there on the cheap. Just hold on to the old movement for originality's sake.

Quartz time only movement can be bought, in mist cases for < $20. $700 is highway robbery.

Thank you seems hardly adequate!

I felt the quote was absurdly high, but I do appreciate the information re: putting in a new movement! I'm off to "Google" repair supplies.

All the best,

Hello D,Read, the main value of you're watch is in the top name it carries,if you put a cheap 20 dollar movement into it,it will be worth 20 dollars. If you are looking to sell it,try advertising it on the well known auction site, stating its condition, you'll find a watch repairer or collector dying to buy it,if you start at 150 dollars,i think you will get a big suprise to its true value, dead or alive.hope that helps you.

Hello again,D.Read, you may simply have a faulty battery conection, try cleaning the battery area, silly question, but have you tried a new battery, even brand new batteries can be faulty, thus killing the power,it may even be in upside down, sometimes, these simple problems, make it look like youre watch is only good for burial, but maybe its only in a coma, and one day will be alive and kicking, telling you........the time.
