Watch given to my mother by my dad ... recall him saying it was a special 50th Anniversary Lady Elgin. Sister has watch, so unable to get photo until next week ... Bracelet is made of gold links ... sister says it is 24K. Unable to find any info. on an anniversary watch made by Elgin. Does anyone know if they made one? Will post photo this week. Works well.

FYI, there are no watches EVER made of 24K gold. 24K gold is too soft for practical watch and jewelry use and is always alloyed with harder metals for durability. 14K (58.5% pure) is the typical US standard while most of Europe uses 18K (75% pure)

The Elgin National Watch Company was founded in 1864, so a 50th year anniversary watch (which I've never heard of) would have been manufactured in 1914.... an improbability since most ladies' watches of that period were pendant or pocket watches, not wrist watches. Wristwatches, though they existed then, didn't really become popular until after the 1920s.

Most of the vintage Elgin watches with metal link bands that I see in estates today were manufactured in the 1940s-1960s. Elgin stopped producing watches in the late 1960s.

In general, ladies' Elgin watches are not particularly collectible and value tends to be limited to gold scrap value of the case.

7 jewel is a low grade movement, so unless the case is solid gold, it isn't worth much.
