Here's my next thrift store find - a men's Girard Perregaux Gyromatic. The crystal has some pretty bad scratches but the case, dial, and hands look to be in good condition. And it runs, although it lost about 5 minutes in the 24 hours I wore it. I don't know if the band is original, but I somehow doubt it - it's nice but it looks kind of 1980's to me and I think the watch is older than that. (it says Forstner USA on the buckle if that means anything). Any ideas as to age and approximate value as is?
Also, how exactly does one measure the case - do I go from lug to lug? (and if so, side to side or top to bottom?) or do I measure across the crystal? do I include the winding stem? should I measure the thickness of the watch too?, etc? Any help is greatly appreciated! |
