Hello, I received this watch in 1973 and when I got it the clasp and chain were already missing. I have kept it tucked away for over 36 years and would like to now find out more about it. I called a jeweler but he said without looking at it was worth ten bucks, and to get a clasp, chain, extension, and cleaning, about 100 dollars. The watch still appears to work when I wind it. Brand: Baume & Mercier, manual Jewel: Seventeen - Unadjusted Metal: 14Kt Gold Model: 2706774 Diameter: 1/2" Length: 5 1/2" Weight: .8 oz with workings .7 without workings but with glass |

Find a different jeweler. At today's gold prices, .7 oz of 14K melts for roughly $425. With very few exceptions, most vintage ladies' gold watches today sell for very little over their gold scrap value. This would hold true for your watch. Under the best of circumstances, I can't see it fetching over $500 in a retail (slow sale) environment and even less at auction. |

I agree. Most ladies watches I get, are sold for $2 ea. Including GF ones. I did find a Geneva 14kt gold watch and band in a junk/costume jewelry lot. Had it out for sale for $300 and no one bought it. So, scrapped it for $600. most are not worth more then scrap. |
