Mother's watch. Small 18K band and face. Band is 6: long. Face is rectangle 3/8" by 7/8". Offered $250 for gold value. Is it worth more to sell? Doesn't work. Thanks. Lady's Bucherer 18 K

It's going to be scrap value. Are you sure it's just $250? How heavy is it?

It weighs one ounce plus a tiny bit more - with crystal.

Thanks, Janice

I'd get a "second opinion" on the gold value...in both this and the mens one. Let's say it weighs an ounce just for the sake of agrument. 1 Oz= $1140 x 0.585 (for 14k) = $667 less say 20-25% scrap fee & comission, you should getting around $500.

Thanks so much for your input. I'll definitely get more opinions. Today's effort at a gold-for-cash store was $1,130 for both. Still not good enough. I really appreciate your advice.

Best, Janice

Next time you go, get EXACT weights and we can determine what kind of offer you should be getting.

Excellent idea. They do the weighing too far away to read the scale. She did say 14K is $17 per pennyweight. 18K approx. 38 per penny weight. I'll explore more gold-for-$$ shops tomorrow.

Thanks so much.

The 18k figure sounds like a reasonable figure. The 14k one sounds a little low, unless they charge more because it's more costly to extract the gold from the lower carat stuff.

Hello, Zaf. I sold the watches today for $1,600 for the two to a gold/jewelry dealer in downtown Los Angeles. Thank you for your help.

Best, Janice

Much better than the original $850!
