i found my grandma's watch the other day. i know its from before i was born, so it's at least 22 years old... the band is 14k white gold (with the number 14k 0,585 on the clasp) the movement is white faced and circular, marked only with 4 numberless lines, 2 hands, and the word ''Elgin'' there is no movement serial number, nor case number, on the inside of the case it says ''Ross'' on the outside it is marked 14k again. the movement says 17 jewels (i assume rubies as i see some small red translucent dots), seventeen, swiss, unadjusted. it is a wind up, and still works like new. it is in perfect condition as far as the eye can tell both on the outside and the movements visual appearance of the parts, i couldnt even tell it wasnt new until my brother said it was my belated grandma's and was in storage. there are 10 clear gems set in an arch immediately above the top half of the watch face (i believe they are diamonds, but i'll have it checked when i am able) i dont plan on selling it as i would love to pass it to my daughter, but i'd like an idea of the value, and i would love to know if the band is actually elgin. sorry the picture is not too detailed, the cam quality is poor but it's all i have for the moment. thanks in advance. |

i had the watch checked, they are not real diamonds. as it is from about 20-30 years ago i assume they are austrian crystal, not cubic zirconium (but possible). not sure if the information i have found is correct or not but its not a quartz watch... (uh... it's a wind up watch, not self winding, that tics when u listen closely) and the watch face is a silvery color, not white (lighting fooled me) i think the wind lasts about 12 hours, im still waiting to see when it dies to check as i havent used it until now, but it's been 11 hours so far. |
