I have a Longines watch for men made of gold with diamonds from the 1900's. I took the watch to a store and I was told that the diamonds did not belong to the watch that the watch had been altered. Does anybody know if a watch for men was ever manufactured by Longines in gold and 12 diamonds around the crown in the 1900's? I'll try to post a picture tomorrow

Are you sure that you do not mean 12 diamonds around the dial?

If this is a vintage Longines wristwatch it probably dates to no earlier than the 1920s and perhaps to the 1940s, 50s, or later. Much more could be said if you posted a picture of what you have. Remember that Longines made thousands of different models of watches.

On vintage watches from this period jewelers often created custom dials with diamonds for customers. Your watch may not originally have come with diamonds from Longines, however, there are some Longines-created diamond-dial watches. Unless the store was an expert in vintage Longines watches they may or may not be correct in their assessment.

Longines watches can be dated from the serial number on the movement.

Pictures please!

The diamond bezel is original to your Longines watch. I've had that exact model on my workbench several times. The dial has been refinished, but the rest of the watch is correct and original.

Thank you Gregb. If by any chance you know an appraisal for this or these watches, I would really appreciate it.

They tend to auction in the $400-$500 range. I paid $430 for the last one I bought.

These models were made in a couple of different variations: with a plain/shiny diamond bezel, like yours, and also with a fluted diamond bezel (below).
