Can someone give me info for this watch and appraisal, It is gold, The wind up spring is broken I took it to a jeweler who is going to order a spring and repair for me. It came from an estate sale. He did not have an appraisal, but thought it would be worth the gold? It weighs about 10 gm or 4.5 oz total weight. Thanks for looking.

This watch is an Omega "Sapphette" model probably from the 60s (the exact date could be determined from the serial number on the movement). The Sapphette model came out in the mid 50s and was sold for almost 3 decades.

Since this is an Omega and the "Sapphette" model is collectable, these often sell on ebay for around $300. The price a dealer might ask could be considerably more.

The gold content is strictly in the case and not the movement, bracelet, crystal, etc. The gold content there is determined by the weight and carat rating of the case (pure gold = 24K, 14K=14/24 or 0.583 gold, etc). I suspect this watch has more value as a watch than as scrap.

Thank you it seems to be a nice piece, I'll have it repaired and just hang on to it.
