I have an Omega wristwatch that was my great-grandfather's. The watch is currently in boxes with all his stuff, so I dont have a picture to post right now. However, the watch is identical to the one pictured in the Museum section of the Omega website (http://www.omegawatches.com/omega/mu_col_1900). The only difference is that mine doesnt have the Omega name or logo on the front. It only says Liverpool, but the Omega logo is engraved on the internals. I know it is real because I sent pictures of the watch to Omega about 10 years ago, and I asked for some information on it. They sent a reply asking me to donate it to their museum, but they never gave me any info on it. Seeing they wanted me to give them my watch and yet they couldnt even take the time to give me some information on it, I never wrote them back. However, the fact that they wanted it for their museum told me it must be of some importance. Can anyone tell me what the watch might be worth? I just saw it on Omegas website, and that is why my curiosity is high. It was still working perfectly as of four years ago. Thank you for any information in advance, Rip Munsterman

Rip, it's hard to put a value on it exactly. If it is in fact THE first Omega model, then it may be worth about $1000-$1500 (I'm just guessing here, it depends how much importance a collector gives to it being the first model and how many survive). If it's just a silver enamel dial Omega that isn't necessarily the first model, then it's a $300 to $600 type thing at the most. If the museum wanted it, my guess is that it's one of the first. The perceived value is probably higher to them than a run of the mill Omega collector. In any event, try to get shots of the movement and we can take it from there. |
