I have a ladies vintage 14K white gold, 26 diamond, black cord band. The back of the watch says at the bottom either 81066 or 61066. It is really hard to tell. I think this watch was made in the 40's. This is a wind up watch. Could you tell me an approximate value?bulova

It will trade very close to scrap, take it to a jeweler for precise estimate, guess, probably around $100.

Wow, I cannot believe that this watch is valued so low! I had spoken to someone a couple of years ago that said the value was at least $400! Do you think they just didn't know what they were talking about or could this watch be a fake? Am I correct about the time this watch was made- in the 40's?

It's probably 1950s. However, just about ALL these second tier brand ladies watches in that size, Bulova, Elgin, Hamilton, etc are trading near their scrap value. There is no demand for these watches as that size is completely out of style. So whatever the scrap value is, add $0-$25 and you'll have your value. If someone offers you $400 take the money and run. There is probably $50 of gold and $50-75 of diamonds, but a jeweler will know better watch in hand.
