I have a C.H. Meylan Minute Repeater that I would like to have appraised and possibly sell. The watch belonged to my father, who inherited it from a friend. The watch has no sentimental value to my mother and she would possibly like to sell it. The watch was fully restored in 1995 by Time Restoration in Phoenix Arizona and is described as a C.H. Meylan minute repeater, open faced with a dust cover. Case #8077, movement #6014, 31 jewles and adjusted in seven positions. If you have any information about this watch or the current climate of the market for watches like this I would greatly appriciate you help. Thank you very much, John Dixon |

Minute repeaters aren't my strong suite, but I'll give it a try. This example, a Patek was sold by us for $5500. http://www.vintagewatchpriceguide.com/html/watches/extra/mpt0560.htm in late 2000. Meylan is a good brand, but it doesn't have the same cachet as Patek. Also, they are likely to have installed a movement by another manufacturer, depending on who made the movement, the price will vary. That said, I'll ball park the price of a Meylan minute repeater at $3000 to $4000. Again, just a ballpark, but should give you a notion of what it is worth. Zaf

The Patek isn't a direct comparision as it is a 5 mn repeater, but I think the $3-$4k for yours is still valid. Best of luck with it, Zaf |

Thanks Zaf, I appreciate the help. My father had the watch insured for $6000 when is was shipped for repairs in '95. It doesn't sound like the collectable market for pocket watches has gone up very much since then. Thanks, John Dixon |
