Assuming it is in clean condition, a gold filled Futurematic with box and papers is worth around $1000 to $1200. |

Jeez Richie, do you have appraisals done on all my auctions? I find my pictures floating around everywhere! By the way, the watch closed at $2,247.22 |

A nice GF Futurematic is worth $750 Max, so someone paid $1500 for the box & papers? That's pretty crazy to me, but a great result for you.

It was NOS, never worn. Original strap didn't even have a bend in it. I'm not sure why you say $750 max when your earlier post says $1,000 -$1,200. If box and papers are worth $200, that means you earlier thought $1,000 max. Of course, you weren't told the condition of the watch which is most important of all. Certainly $1,500 for a NOS GF F-Matic is high, but not crazy. Condition is everything, as you well know. Regards, Greg |

If you re-read my post, all it says is Futurematic (assuming it is used) with box and papers is worth $1000 to $1200. Not sure where you get the $1000 Max from. So the valuation was based on $750 for the watch and $250 to $450 for the box and papers. If the person doesn't say it is NOS, I'm not going to make that assumption. A used Gold filled Futurematic rarely gets over $750. They made 53,000 caliber 497 Futurematics, so it's not like it is particularly rare, even with papers. Attached is a chart of the last 53 we have sold.

Zaf, I know you weren't told all the details. Thats why I said in my post "you weren't told the condition of the watch which is most important of all". The original poster gave you a picture of my watch that he was bidding on at auction and neglected to tell you it was NOS. Thats also why I signed my post "regards" in hopes you wouldn't mis-read my comments. I got the $1,000 max by taking the $1,200 max ($1,000-1,200) you stated in the first post and taking off roughly $200 for box and papers. This is about the going market price for box and papers. This result didn't sync entirely with your later post where you gave a "$750 max" valuation so I wasn't sure why the difference in the 2 valuation answers you gave. In closing, I absolutely believe your market data on the F-Matic and wouldn't question your judgement or experience in this area. As I mentioned in my earlier post, you just weren't given all the data. Regards, Greg |

Ok, not a problem, my gut feeling is that the papers on FMatic add a little more value than to a Mystery dial (other than maybe the Galaxy), that's all. It's a ballpark range anyways and I only do this as a ballpark estimate as a courtesy to people that visit this forum. Of course a personal examination can add or subtract to the estimate.
