I have been left a watch that belonged to my late father. He died almost 17 years ago, and I believe this watch was made for him as either a 20th or 25th wedding anniversary present from my mother. So, he would have recived it around 1984 or 1989 at the latest. The watch is made from a solid 20 dollar gold coin, that was left to my father , by his father. It is NOT split in two, as with some watches. The face of the watch is the "tails " side of the coin i.e depicting the phrase"IN GOD WE TRUST" at the top, surrounded by small stars, above an eagle's head, above a banner. There are no numerals or marking on the face other than a pair of plain black hands. It is a wind up mechanism, in full working order. The back of the case is plain gold (coloured?) engraved with the name " PAUL BUHRE" in italic script, towards the top. Towards the bottom of the case back is engraved the numbers "7660" and underneath that, much fainter, is inscribed "Y1070J". Can anyone tell me anything about this watch, including, if possible, its approximate value ? Many thanks |
