I'm just curious about the value of a watch I inherited from my grandmother. I'm not sure of the exact age, but it's at least 36 years old, she had it my entire life. It's a 14K White gold Lucien Piccard. The logo on the face includes a spiral and the end makes a curving underline to the maker name. The same logo is on the back of the clasp and just the spiral version is on the winder. The back has the brand engraved in a slight arc. The band, clasp and sides are brushed in a sort of cross-hatch pattern. 12 & 6 are elongated triangles, 3 & 9 are squares and the rest of the numbers are circles, they are all raised and beveled. The face and band are the same width, neither more than 1/4" wide. The face is a rectangular shape in line with the band, and is a silvery white, I doubt it's mother of pearl because it doesn't seem to have that opalescent sheen. The band is a series of squares held together by rectangles that wrap from top to bottom. You can see a bit of a circular pattern on the backs of the squares, I'm guessing from the brushing process. I just had the clasp chain repaired and the jeweler decided to say it's worth $500 for purposes of me leaving it with them, but that's probably not the true value. It looks like they cleaned it while they had it. I wish I had a pic of it, but hopefully my description has enough detail for some thoughts on it. Thanks for any feedback! |

Hi. I think the Jeweler is in the ball park on the price, but I'd say more in the $300 range, but $300 to $500 is reasonable. |

Thank you! Before the repair I'd had no idea I was walking around with that much $$ on my wrist. I've given up on battery-run watches because I'm one of those people that kills batteries in a couple of months, so it's my only watch (other than on the cell.) No wonder my boss thought I was crazy to wear it to work carrying sets around and such! ;) This is a great message board, thanks so much for your efforts on it and for your reply to me. |
