I have an old gold, possibly 18kt, pocketwatch that has H & Bros imprinted on the inside of the case. There is a key for winding it or for setting it...I am not sure of the function and have not tinkered with it. There is the name JOS JOHNSON on the face of the watch along with an address on Church St. in Liverpool. Does this mean anything to anyone here? I can not locate any information on the watch. Please reply ASAP |

I have a gold pocketwatch, from my grandfather, who worked the railroad. It has a greenish face, possible glow-in-the-dark, and an inset dial that has a sweep second hand. The case is ornate, with eight beveled sides. The face of the watch has "Illinois" on it..Any idea of value or circa The watch winds and functions perfectly.. |

Illinois is an American Watch company that ceased to exist in the late 1920s (though the name was revived later on). So it would most likely be before 1920, the value can be anywhere from $100 and on up to thousands of dollars depending on which model. |

Hi, This is a duplicate post--somehow my other post was inserted among March entries (there is a fuzzy photo with the previous post). I was wondering what a 18k gold men's Bucherer might be worth. It was purchased in the 70's or early 80's in Europe. It says "BUCHERER" and "officially certified chronometer" and "T Swiss Made" on the face and it has the number "1512" etched on the back, along with 18K, Swiss MAde, shock resistant, water resistant. etc. I appreciate any insight you can offer. Thanks. |

Hello Cherrie, I really don't know all that much about American pocket watches other than being able to date some of them. If you have a picture I can give you an opinion. Usually, 15 Jewel movements, in a pocket watch would indicate lower values, but this isn't always true. |

Hi, This is a follow up to an earlier post, more information. Can you estimate the value of an 18k gold Bucherer Men's watch, 25 jewels--the gold body and back weigh 1 ounce together. It is from the late '70s early 80's I think. I posted a blurry picture somewhere before. Where does one sell (securely) these kinds of things. Thanks very much. |
