Are you sure it was purchased NEW in 1983? Looks older. Value will depend on what movement is in there. If it's a caliber 101 it's worth some money, if not, it'll be slightly over the scrap value. I can't tell. Can you measure the dimensions of the case back precisely?

Zaf, my mother purchased this watch directly from the dealer in Dubai, in the late 70's/early 80's. The exact date is not certain. The back story is that this watch was unique piece made by JLC as a gift to the wife of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid (ruler of Dubai). The watch was too small and was returned. My mother bought it in ~1980 for $16k ($45k in today's dollars). I will measure the case back and get back to you. Thanks!

Zaf, the dimensions of the back case are: 5mm x 3mm x 1.5mm. The dimensions of the front watch face are: 6mm dial diameter, 1cm outer diameter (including diamonds)

The first dimension seems really small. The movement I am referring (the 101) to is 14mm x 4.8mm wide x 3.4mm tall. It's the smallest backset they make.

Zaf, sorry the decimal point shouldn't have been there, so yes, it is the same dimensions as those you mentioned - so it is the caliber 101.

What would that make it worth?
Thanks!

You best bet is to search the Antiquorum.com database and see what caliber 101s are going for.
