I have a women's LeCoultre watch that I plan to sell. It does not work, but it is intact otherwise. (I tried putting a different battery in it but it would not tick.) It came with no box or papers, as it is a hand-me-down from my deceased aunt. I do not know the model # or the year, but I am guessing 1950's sometime. The measurement of the watch face from stem to stem is 38.1 mm. The thickness of the case is 9mm. The case is 14K gold (the jewelry store told me). The first jewelry store I went to weighed it at 15.5 grams, the second store said 10 pennyweights. I took the back off and tried to get the best photos of the "LeCoultre" name on the inside. On the inside back of watch, by battery: "Unadjusted six 6 jewels" & "978.002"
On inside of back , (behind where it says "14K Gold") it says "LeCoultre 14K Gold L&W 79853"
Would you be able to tell me the best place/way to sell this watch?
Thank you for your time and attention,
Erin Wilhelm

What you have there is a 1950's ladies "cocktail" watch with a much later quartz movement installed. This was probably done when the original mechanical movement broke down.

Value is solely for scrap at this point. Best best is to take it to a jeweler and get what you can get for the case. There is no collector value to this watch whatsoever.

Hope this helps,
