My Grandfather passed away a few years back and he left me a pocket watch that he had, and I was trying to find out some info on it. My Dad said that My Grandfather got it when he was in the Navy, he thought. It has a plain silver case, plain white face with fairly large black numbers and a second hand down where the six is, when I removed the back cover all it has is Hamilton Watch Co. U.S.A., 2974B - 17 Jewels, has 3 pos. adjustable, and by the movement part it has a Number 2K2471. To me it doesnt look that old but I was just wandering around when it might have been made and any other info on it. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Billy |

It's a WWII era U.S. Navy "Comparing Watch". This was used as a secondary timepiece on a ship after the ship's master chronometer. It's a nice watch, fairly high grade. Undervalued if you ask me, they go for $250 to $500 depending on condition. It should have a much of US Navy markings on the back. |

Thanks, Very much Zaf. It looks just like the one in the picture but it doesn't have any thing on the back but it might be a different back, I'm not sure. It is a very heavy watch and seems to be in excellent condition. I did have to have it repaired because it seems if you accidently drop them it breaks that spring that runs them.(lol)And that is why I was interested in some info on it, because the jeweler that repaired it said he had only seen 1 or 2 of them, but he couldn't tell me any thing about it. So thanks again for the info. Billy |

Ok, I've gotten this watch back out and looked at it again. The face is just like the picture but the the hands are not blunt like those are. And I'm not a watch person but the part that a chain would attach to is more circular like half moon with leaf engraving on each side front and back. Very confusing huh, I'll get a couple of pictures and post them for you. Billy |
