It's a Hamilton model 21 marine chronometer. Seems to have seen naval service at some point then was transferred to the Army? The Army used these in bomber aircraft.

Hamilton was the major producer of GMT (Greenwich mean time)timepieces. These were used by navigators and bombardier navigators during WW II to calculate longitude. It was issed in a metal case with a plexi window and rhe watch itself was supported by springs to absorb shock during flight.
