I just bought a Hamilton watch from Ebay. At least, I hope it is a Hamilton watch. The tag that comes with it states that it is Model 610413. On the bottom of the dial is the word "Swiss". Aren't Hamilton watches American? A scan of this watch is in http://members.aol.com/dikliu/Hamilton.jpg

Thanks in advance for helping solve this preplexing question.

Hamilton, as the vintage people know it, closed down in 1969 and the name was sold sometime later. Looks like a quartz reproduction you have, Swiss made (or at least the dial & movement are Swiss)

Thanks, Zaf. It is a quartz watch. I did not know that the Hamilton name was sold and "Hamilton" watches was then made elsewhere. Thanks for explaining.

Condition dependent, $300 to $600, add $$50-100 if it has the original bracelet.

Zaf,
You mentioned that Hamilton (USA) closed down in 1969. So, any Hamilton with a swiss movement is not considered collectable even if it is manual or automatic before 1969? Non Quartz movements.

There are collectible Hamiltons with Swiss movements for sure. What is significantly less collectible (if at all) are watches marked Hamilton made after 1969.

Okay thanks. That makes sense. There are so many out there and depending on the wording and readability of the description, questions have to be asked. :-)
