Its the usual story I got this watch from my grandfather when he passed away. Im curious to know about it. What model is it, how old is it, whats it worth, any historical tidbits, etc.

I changed the band a few years ago and had the face cleaned. The 3 oclock bump came loose recently and I need to get it repaired. It has to be wound to keep time. The hands and dots glow in the dark. On the back it says, around the edge: WATER-RESISTANT ANTI-MAGNETIC 10K G.F.S.S. BACK IV [[I cant really read that last character- need some glasses]] ADJUSTED HAMILTON

Thanks for any help!

-Jon

Thanks Zaf. Interesting site. I clicked through all the listings there that would qualify- winding, gold, etc. I didn't see anything quite like it. Hmmm... So I still don't know what watch I have.

But there are some very nice looking watches on that site. Some of the older pocket watches are especially cool looking. Not that I wear a vest with a watch pocket, these days, though. :-)

Your watch looks quite similar to the Hamilton "Guardsman I" model whch dates to around 1957. If so, it should have the 18 jewel 735 caliber movement. It does seem to be missing the minute chapter marks around the edge of the dial. It looks as if your dial might have been re-done at some point. Perhaps the minute chapter was omitted in the re-dial.
