I recently acquired an Illinois pocket watch, and the serial number dates it back to circa 1888. The case however seems suspect. It is a "Dueber Silverine Canton.O" marked case. I want to know if this is the original case, and if not what it might have been. Thanks.

I have an Elgin pocket watch-model GM Wheeler- 14K- Serial no 5008887- grade 74- size 18s- I have know idea of any more info- is there value to this piece?
