I am not a collector. Going through some old boxes (grandparents stuff) I found an 1881 Elgin Pocket watch. It is in great condition but does not keep time. Does not look as fancy and flashy gold as the 1900s Elgins on your website that are for sale but it is in great shape.
What might it be worth to a collector?

Not sure. It is not gold. Hard nickel type metal - silver color that does not shine like silver

Probably "silveroid". If it isn't railroad grade, it'll be inexpensive, if it is, value is $200-400. Railroad grade are lever set (you have to screw the bezel off to swing a lever to set the time) and are adjusted chronometer grade movements.

Thanks for the info. I will pull it back out and look. I do remember that you have to screw off the back (is this what you mean by bezel?)to set the time. There are not any pieces sticking out the back.

No, you have to screw off the front and at 2:00 there will be a small lever you need to pull out to allow you to set the time
