Can anyone help with some info on this watch? I believe that this watch was given to my father on his 21st birthday in 1959.

Some details:

I assume the case to be stainless steel. It says Acier Inoxyable on the back of the back.

# on back: 642760

Movement #: 1077982
# by balance wheel: P469/1C

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It's a standard fare dress watch from the 1950s. The movement production dates to 1954-1955, it could have easily been sold in 1959. I do not have any additional information for you.
