HiMy name is Rob and I recently purchased a vintage LeCoultre Memovox. The seller says the watch is original except the crystal. Are the domed crowns correct? How do I date the watch. It works perfectly. What is the fair market value of this watch? Thank You

I meant to add, this a manual wind 814 movement. The watch is signed LeCoultre in three places, the case, the movement and the dial. Thank you again and this is an awesome site. Glad I found it!

I believe those are the correct style crowns for that model. I do not know if it has a name. On the insides of the case back, it may have a case reference number.

Thank you Zaf. I paid a bit more than the average price, but I believe it is original as the seller stated. I think the dial and hands look great. I will post a picture of the case back.

I think Zaf is right, the style of the crowns looks correct.

However, they seem to be two different sizes, which means at least one of them is not original to the watch. If one is signed, then I would guess that's the good one.

Hope this helps,

I looked again, and I believe the top one is original. That is the correct style for this watch. I do not think they were originally signed, as is the case with many early JLC/LC alarms.

Zaf, the gentleman I bought the Memovox from speaks very highly of your knowledge. Witht the rest of the watch being original an unrestored, does the one incorrect crown detract from it greatly? Would a correct crown be out there somewhere? Thanks

On this model, not really. You should be able to find a pair of domed crowns that are very close and just replace the pair.
