Hi - 1st post here. My father recently passed away, and I found this watch buried in a dresser drawer. He'd never mentioned it, so I don't know when he got it, but he never wore a watch. Guesses on a mfg. date? I'm thinking late '50s, from a few searches on this site. It seems to have a steel case, and a fabric (silk?) band, but the band is very dirty and discolored. Should I attempt to clean the band, or replace it? The alarm does not appear to sound, but it runs and seems to tell time. The crystal is scratched - should I polish it or replace it? There's dirt/junk around the back plate - some kind of corrosion, it appears. I'd like to have it refurbished/repaired, while keeping it original - what should that cost? TIA for any help/suggestions!

It's a cailber 815, which off the top of my head was made 1959-1965. The band is not original. I can service it if you'd like. |

Thanks. How would we proceed, if I were to have you do the work? |
