It would be very unusual for tritium to have been used prior to 1962-64. It was an exotic material before then limited to military applications. If anything, it's radium.

I don't think they were luminous. Just a tan paint. The dial would have had radium. Maybe someone would like to test theirs in a closet. I don't own one.
