Hi, I am hoping to buy a vintage JLC reverso for a special gift. I have no idea what I'm doing and would be most grateful for some help in what I should ask of a dealer and if there's anything you can suggest that would help me avoid getting scammed. Thank you so much. |

How vintage? They've been making them since 1931. |

I really don't know...and I don't really mind. I'm just looking for a stainless steel or white gold one with a leather strap that works and is in excellent condition. Thank you for answering... |

I have this one in 18k white gold, salmon dial. Comes with Box & papers. I'd have to check how old it is, I think it is from the early 2000s.

It's lovely... I was hoping for older though, (vintage to me would be 80's and before) although I wouldn't exclude this one. But my question was really about what I should be checking and asking of a dealer... I mean if the watch were from the 30's one wouldn't necessarily expect papers would they, so what could you do to protect yourself? |

There are very very few reversos made between 1950 and 1980. I've never had one. So basically, you're looking at something pre 1950 or post 1990. On a vintage Reversos, the case back serial and rest of the case numbers should match. If you have a photo of one you have in mind I'd be happy to give an opinion. |

Hi Zaf, I don't have one in mind but thank you for the offer. I'm just trying to get some tips on what to look for (and look out for!), what questions to ask, etc. Also, if at all possible, what in general, would one expect to pay for a reliable, working reverso. Thanks. |

I think in vintage you're probably looking at $3000-4000 in steel. In modern, around 50-70% off what the new model will sell for, it really depends on many factors there though. |
