Hi guys,

I have two vintage JLC day/dates...well the precursors its seems to the current master date.

Below is the 1945 version (day and date are in French).

I have another (sorry no pic though), with only one "day" indicator window also in French and the date pointer being a red arrow rather than a red crescent.

Both in good condition like the one in the link.

Any idea

Thanks

Stuart

Stuart,
great looking watch, its the reason I really like watches so much and one of the first to get me hooked. This is one of my favorites. The dial with the dagger markers does not get any better than this, the American versions normally have embossed steel numbers that can not really compare to this. This is also a large watch,it usually measures in at about 35.5mm in diameter and is long.I have many variations of this watch.A common price point seems to be around 1600USD,that is what the last 2 have sold on the bay for.Asking prices at the shows can be much more but they seem to trade in the 1300-1800 range. This watch comes in yellow and rose,14k and 18k depending on the american version or not.If you are lucky you can snag an 18K in the range 0f 2000-2100.Common problems with these watches are rusty dial screws and movement ring screws. This watch is normally held into a steel ring with 3 screws, the ring is meant to come out of the back of the case when taking out the movement.I have run into a number of them with broken or missing case screws. This watch is not that easy to find, you could spend a long time looking if you wanted one.

Yes, HOWEVER, I am not a big fan on the watch that is pictured. Looks like a redial and not a very good one at that. If this is a watch you are considering purchasing, I'd temper my ethusiasm and wait for a better redial or an original dial or discount it to reflect that fact.

From your original message, are you saying you have a DOUBLE DATE watch? or a Triple date watch, like the pictured one?

Thanks guys,

I also have a double date with the day written in French, but waiting to get it back from the watch maker so I can take images of it. Appears to be in original condition, but I'll post again for the experts as I am somewhat of a novice.

With the Triple date, are there any examples that you two could post to show me what it should be like (since the one I am looking at appears to be a poor re-dial).

The double date is an entirely different animal. It uses a RECTANGULAR movement though it can be found in round watches.

here is a thread of some fakes, some bad redials and what a real dial should look like:

gotcha.
I now see what you mean.

Re. The double date, being "different" in a good or a bad way compared to the triple date? The one I have is in a round case.

Thanks again
Stuart

The doubles dates in round cases are worth less, so I guess that is "bad".
