Looking for any info on this LeCoultre. My father gave it to me some years ago and I am curious about it. Listed on the movement is Swiss, 17 jewel, unadjusted, 438/4CW, and VXN. The crystal has several small chips on the sides. It runs but loses time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx
Jim

I can't say that I know the model name, it is a 1950s piece, gold filled, was available in both white & yellow and in mens & ladies models.

Jim,

The model name of your watch was the "Sultan". The lady's version was the "Sultana". They were priced at $71.50 each when they were originally sold in the 1950s.

Thanx Greg,

Any Idea where I might locate a replacement crystal. Although not cracked, as I mentioned it has several chips on the sides and if possible I would like to replace it.

Plastic crystals for this model should be readily available through any local watch repair shop. The crystals themselves are cheap (about 10 cents each in quantity), but you'll have to take the watch in to have the bezel opening measured exactly to find the right one and then have it fitted. Most shops charge $25-50 for a crystal replacement. Finding the glass replacement crystal would be much more difficult. Good luck!
