Pretty uncool you are abusing this board to link for support your own auction... But your price is up the roof anyway. |

I agree. A blatant plug for his watch auction even though he supposedly is a private seller. I would have also mentioned this but the price is a bit high so I didn't. It made most of the site JLCs affordable. Jaeger, here is the board disclamer just in case you didn't see it when you clicked on Forum. "Welcome to the vintage watch forum! Please limit discussion to items of horological interest. You may post links to sites with educational content, but please no links to competing sites with similar items for sale. If you do not want to register to use the forum, you may use the name of your choice while leaving the password empty." |

I was not aware of the board disclaimer. There was no disclaimer when I linked to the forum (http://www.jaegerlecoultreforum.com/), and posted the message. I have been a vintage watch collecor for many years, and in many forums/boards, fellow collectors buy, sell and trade timepieces. As for the price being overstated, this is simply not the case. The watch case and entire bracelet is 18k solid gold. You gentleman may not be aware of current gold prices, but the price of the timepiece does accurately reflect current fair market vaules. Good day. |

Hey hey, if you know the market so well, let's see if you manage to sell it ! And let us, the 'not aware of current price' crowd have a good laugh :-) |

7.6cm length for the bracelet. Sheesh. That is pretty darn small too. Granted the watch is a nice thin piece, but how much Gold weight would such a thin watch and short bracelet bring? If he was adamant about the gold weight issue, he would have individually scaled it down to weight for each piece without the movement. I have seen many sellers do this with results. |

Actually, the length is approximately 18.6cm as stated in the description. It is not very long, but definitely not short. Please let me know where in the USA, one could purchase a man's 18k gold Jaeger-LeCoultre timepiece with the 18k solid gold bracelet for 1900 USD. On the ebay site, buyers often expect to purchase authentic items at below market values. Unfortunately, this often leads to fraud. Many watches on ebay are simply not authentic. Those that are authentic often have movements in very poor condition or with aftermarket components. |

Okay 18.6cm is still pretty short IMO. However since you have a special bracelet and not a regular strap, it might be normal that way. The watch I am currently wearing is 24.5 cm with the watch included. May I ask, do you know what caliber movement is in your watch? You know, collectors sometimes base their decision on a watch just by it's movement and complication. As far as I am concerned, your watch probably has a basic JLC movement due to the type of watch it is. The only thing it has going for it besides being 18K, is that it's a very thin looking piece. Lastly, is this your only JLC in your collection or do you have more? Oh, why are you selling? This is of course a discussion board. ![:-)](https://www.classicwatch.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif) |

Is the bracelet JLC signed? Many of these were jeweler modified and suffer accordingly from a collectibility point of view. |

Gold bracelets are most often shorter for a better fit since length adjustment is limited. At 18.6cm, the bracelet would properly fit a wrist approximately 16.5 to 18.5cm in circumference. A wrist with a circumference of 7.5inches or greater would be too large, and less than 6.5 inches would be too small. This watch is not a complicated timepiece, but a vintage JLC dress watch made in the late 1950s or early 1960s. It is simply an 18 jewel manual winding movement. I have the watch in storage, but I can check the caliber if you would like. The bracelet is stamped .750 (18k gold) and I believe the clasp had some other markings as well. Again, I can check the watch to be certain. This is the only Jaeger LeCoultre I have remaining. Although, I will continue to collect vintage timepieces, I will focus only upon Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constaintin. The regular, proper servicing of this timepiece and other similar timepieces without complications is not economically sound. Considering proper maintenance, inflation, valuation, and other such factors, watch collecting is not a sound investment unless one is to purchase very rare complicated pieces and hold on to them from many years. I realize that watch collectors are not often overly concerned about the investment aspect of collecting. However, if your collection is a liability in the long run, you may have to cut your losses and better focus your energy while still not completely eliminating the enjoyment of collecting. |

My point of view is not as complicated. I am currently collecting Hamiltons and specific swiss watches in a certain price range. The proper maintenance does increase in cost as the years go by for the simple movements like the Hamiltons. However I try to DIY the cleaning and oil myself on these. Eventually I will get good enough to test my skills more complicated watches. For now I know my limitations. Besides, I have my hands in a broad range of hobbies, plus my work at the office, etc. I keep myself pretty busy. |

"You gentleman may not be aware of current gold prices, but the price of the timepiece does accurately reflect current fair market vaules" It looks like the market hasn't fully seen the same value in jaeger 18k watch finally ;-) |

Gold price or not, the watch is pretty thin. If you weigh it, I'm sure it's not going to weigh as much as a 18K round . |
