I inherited my fathers LeCoultre Memodate/alarm watch. The model is 2744-1-910/911, case nbr 4859753. 14K yellow gold. I am seeking information as to its date of manufacture and any other history on this model. Also, is it valuable enough that I should insure it? Thanks for any info. My e-mail [email protected] |

Certain collectable watches should be insured for ~twice the amount as time goes by they increase in value. Always take pictures. |

Hex onX might know something about watches but don't buy insurance from him Some problems with over insuring; #1 you need an appraisal. Insurance companies do not issue insurance based on the client's oppinion. An appraiser will not double the replacement value. that is not only considered unethical but posibly bordering on fiduiary fraud. #2 if you were able to get it over appraised you would end up paying twice the premium for the high appraisal. #3 99% of of valuables insurance policies are replacement policies not cash policies. The pictures and descriptions of the watch are much more important than the dollar figure. If you are worried about the price going up you get it you get it reappraised normally at a nominal fee by the original appraiser |
