Dear all,

what can you tell me about this Jaeger-LeCoultre? Solid 18K gold case. Any informations about value and age?

Thank you in advance, best regards,

Alexander

I'm sorry, but it is a fake. It seems to be a genuine JLC movement, that has been modified to accept a moonphase & date function. The case & dial are made up.

Can you tell what the caliber number of the movement is? It should be near the balance wheel.

The movement looks like a typical JLC caliber 494 3-date/moonphase to me. Zaf, what clues do you look for to determine that the dial is altered on this example? I haven't had that many of them in my hands.

The 484/494, though in the same 12 1/2 ligne movement family as the movement shown, has a 4 bridge design (this one only has 3) and the edges of the movement plates would be chamfered @ 45 degrees to accommodate the case back. Not way this is a 484/494. This looks like a caliber 449 or 463.

Thanks, I was indeed looking at a 449 tech sheet and thinking that the bridge was the same since the base caliber is the same.

Hello Zaf, hello GregB,

thank you for your quick response. The caliber number of the movement is 424017. Are you sure that the JLC is a fake? Or is it maybe a very rare JLC?

Best regards,

Alexander

Alexander,

The number you gave is the movement serial number, not the ovement caliber. The movement caliber will be a 3-digit number... probably 449 or 463. By the way, the serial number would date production of your watch to around 1946.
