The stem on the back to wind and set time ,
falls out of the watch when I pull to set time.
Where can I get a competent repair done ?
Serial no 721790 , white gold 18k ,case and band.
Thanks in advance

Thanks Zaf,
The winding button is just falling out, there seems to be no thread .
I can wind the watch , but not adjust the time ; when I pull the button out it comes loose ; I think I can even shake it out if I hold the watch faceplate up.
Regards

The screw that holds the winding crown on has reverse threads. Unfortunately, many watchmakers or owners who try to remove the screw to disassemble the watch don't pay careful attention and they don't realize that it is a reverse threaded screw until they have tried to force it the wrong way. The screw ends up stripped and the crown will no longer stay on. I see this all the time on the backwind watches.

A good watchmaker may be able to re-thread the screw and/or stem to correct the problem.

I can probably fix it. We'd probably rethread the gold screw and sweat a little bit of lead in the screw hole, but it would involve taking the movement partially apart. It wouldn't be a $10 type of thing.

Hallo Zaf ;
The Email I sent you bounced , so I'll go this route.
I live in Oakton,VA, so I could easily bring the watch to DC and have you make a repair estimate. Can you Email your address ?
Thanks
