I have been offered a round. mid 60ties JLC watch as follows:

Calibre K 885, ref. nr. 20002, serial no. 1058478. The movement is signed JLC and the case back LeCoultre.

Please let me hear your comments and "fair price" indications.

Thanks and regards,

Anders

Hi Anders,

these reference should be 18K gold, right?
Catalog states: Monocoque case. Diameter 34mm.

You are right, Ilja, the watch case is made from 18 kt. YG.

Any comments regarding the history / quality of the movement and a fair price for this type of JLC watch in mint condition? I've never seen one before.

Regards,

Anders

Perhaps Zaf can jump in for the movement quality and a "fair" price", I never owned a K885...
While the watch catalog from 1965 says 15J movement, the furnitures catalog says 17J. Courious...
For the movement I can provide this informations:
Round handwind caliber (Diameter 26mm, Overall height 4.15mm; Direct center second; Beveled plate and bridges; 17 Jewels - Spirotor "Kif Flector" shock absorber screwless balance diameter 10.84mm; 19,800 vibrations per hour.

Movement also came as a "hacking" version named 885 S.

From my point of view it is a typical 60s style Dress-watch. I cant find any significant history about the watch.

If it's just a round dress watch, I'd say $450 to $600 depending on case diameter.

You can always subscribe to:
http://www.vintagewatchpriceguide.com/

there are 120 JLCs and 360 LeCoultres listed in there.

Thanks again, Zaf & Ilja,

Obviously, this is not a very exciting JLC model, but having never heard bout the K 885 movement before I thought I'd better ckeck with the experts.

Anders

Sounds like it could be similar to the watch I am showing in my thread
