I have a JLC watch recently repaired thru ZAF. It is a 1945 JLC Caliber P478 with Para shock, manual wind, serial 356241, chrome plated top with steel back. I am looking for a replacement leather watch band in the style which would be appropriate for that era. If so where can I obtain one and what would be the approximate cost. I live in surburban Philadelphia, USA Any help ILJA? PS the repair was excellent and MUCH cheaper that JLC factory |

Straps depend on personal preference, vintage generic straps show up on ebay frequently. To find a vintage JLC is very hard and surely will cost you a little fortune than. I suggest to check at a local dealer, then you see the true color and which is not unimportant, the strap thickness. Old straps are usually very thin and dont match todays taste and comfort. Depending on lug size (I guess your watch is 16mm) the choices can be limited, especially 17mm size! Make sure strap lenght fits your wrist. For period style I cant help. Old info material seldom shows complete strap and prints are b/w. It can be every material from pig to crocodile. Ilja |

It currently has a 16mm strap. Would a black crocodile(large grain) be appropriate. I am not looking for a vintage strap just one that reflects the period Thanks for the propmpt response |

Thank you Ilja and Zaf. Watch repaired by zaf is running great. On another thread I received some info on appropriate watch bands for JLC's. 1910-1920's... thin pigskin/calf 1930-1940's croc/alligator or ostrich(more pricey)with small grain since my watch requires a 16mm band as to not overpower the watch. Again thanks especially Zaf who repaired my Dad's vintage 1945 JLC |
