I had recently an utterly broken Travelette* (8 days) with a cal. 219 for repair - however, the alarm lasts only for 5 sec. and I think I remember that it has to be somewhat around 20 sec. (five seconds don't make any sense - it doesn't wake up, it would just remind you to do something if you already got up).

Would this assumption be correct (20secondish)?

Another problem: from the data sheet for the 219, part 7441 (alarm stop wheel spring) looks different from mine. Any thoughts on this?

greetings of the fine season

*I do not know whether it's actually a Travelette or not, because it is for the european (JLC) market.

I say 20 seconds or more sounds about right. With reagrds to the part, all it is is wire, so during repair any watchmaker can easily make it, so that's why there is some variation most likely.

Hello Zaf,

guess the clock has to go back then for further repair*-whoever tried it first, was a banausos, as the scratches show it.

As for the type (Travelette), I'll ask JLC.

*after it's finished, pics will be posted, because the clocks looks very nice, I think (the dial hasn't been touched but the hands got relumed nicely and it keeps the time very precise well now).

greetings,

christian

update:

-the watchmaker seems stuck due to what seems a GLUED part (of the 'Doppelfederhaus')/or cerrectly applied part of which he does not know the removal procedure
-otherwise the watchmaker has done his job nicely (reluming the hands as suggested - for practical purposes (after all, the clock has to serve during nights too and is not intended only for collectors pleasure) and mending the clockwork

-however the repair efforts are still in limbo: movement dissambled again for adjusting the duration of the alarm (which does ring 20-secondish, but not reliable)
-I phoned JLC - but they were understandably reserved in relation to repair manuals for this caliber

Question: Would a good samaritan in possession of the repair-manual* for the 219-caliber mind sharing his findings (in a digital form)

*I've got the parts-catalogue already...

Thanks

Meister Zaf,

the word filtering is capricous - as it does not seem to allow pdf (in brackets) and special arrangements of dots (which he suspects as 'smileys' or ascii-art?)

Sorry, otherwise I am constantly filtering out adult site links.
